Editor’s note: the Stanley referred to is the
Aga-like cooking range in the Kitchen, and the pheasant referred to comes
and taps on the big window at regular intervals and looks very inquisitive!

Thanks for giving us he opportunity to spend some time in this most
beautiful cottage. The views are without doubt breathtaking and the house
wonderfully comfortable and cozy on rainy days. It’s marvelous and we have
truly enjoyed ourselves. As usual we hope to be back next year.
We all love the roof and all the space, and the lounge is excellent. We went
for a walk last night and saw a bunny in the garden too
A fantastic setting with superb views – What can I say? We had a thoroughly
enjoyable time even though the weather was not brilliant. It’s a wonderful
cottage – clean and tidy and with everything we could have needed. We will
be sure to return during the warmer weather months for a longer stay.
Heavenly peace – lovely house, very comfortable wonderful situation in
excellent walking country.
Loved the view, loved the Stanley fantastic place. We even had snow – made
us feel at home. The bunny visited us too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A very enjoyable and peaceful break from the frantic environment of Pwllheli
and district. An opportunity to be amongst good company and friends. Watched
a little TV, ate drank and chatted a lot –went for walks and thoroughly
enjoyed the house and its location. Would not have any reservations about
recommending it to anyone. Many thanks.
Thank you so much for letting us in your lovely cottage-What a treat! We had
a great time. Excellent with a well equipped kitchen.
Cottage very nice, well equipped and comfortable. Wonderful views and walks.
Good company from the pheasant and rabbits. I am sure we will be back.
Lovely cottage and fantastic weather. Nature and technology at its best –
loved the kettle!
We have had a lovely time. Very peaceful (apart from our own kids!) and hope
to come back soon.
I wish I could take the view home with me. This house is excellent and well
equipped and we had a wonderful time. Could have done with a downstairs
basin. [fitted in ’06 –Ed]
Lovely fabulous view and cottage is gorgeous. Gave me an excuse to wear
hiking clothes ‘n’ go for a walk when I wouldn’t normally so thank you [a
teenager!]
I had a really great time, can’t wait ‘till next time!
Lovely cottage – we had a wonderful weekend here and found a new part of the
country to explore. Loved the view from the top of the hill behind the house
and the sun even shined for us!
Lovely comfortable cottage with wonderful views and walks. Thank you so
much.
Having spent most spring bank holidays during the 1970’s in Aberdaron this
was trip down memory lane, and apart from the shops being rearranged nothing
has changed. So many places to explore but the grandchildren just wanted
Aberdaron beach and this very welcoming house and garden. A lovely holiday!
Wonderful location for a lovely family holiday cottage. We loved the
kitchen, especially the Stanley. Very well equipped. Never explored this
area before – loved Whistling Sands (Porth Oer), Abersoch, Views over
Bardsey. Hope we can return for further adventures.
The cottage is a lovely family holiday place to stay and I love the beach.
We could never make it to the lonely beach because it was a long way down! I
loved the village in Aberdaron. In the cottage I like the beds and the games
best. I liked the Warren Beach. [children’s entries]
A week was not enough for us to fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery from
this beautiful cottage. We found we were able to visit many of the lovely
beaches from this central location. The fishing and many golf courses made
our husband’s and son’s holidays even more enjoyable. The warmth and
coziness of the cottage made our evenings very pleasurable. Ideal family
holiday home, would certainly return.
Finally worked out how to use the Aga on day six – the pheasant tasted
lovely!! Whistling sands comes highly recommended. Great views, fine sands
and sheltered etc.
Lovely cottage in an outstanding location. The views are outstanding,
especially when you can even view them from the windows. To top that you
even ordered us some fantastic sunshine!
Once again a lovely weekend! It’s now becoming like a second home! See you
again very soon.
A wonderful cottage and a superb location. The good company food and wine
complimented a lovely weekend.
Another lovely family holiday enjoyed by us all.
Lovely weekend. My birthday celebrations went with a bang. Weather was good
with two great walks.
What a lovely weekend! The views are fantastic, local walks superb. The
house is very warm and welcoming and relaxing. Just what we needed, thank
you.
The house is lovely, great views and comfy beds. Really refreshing walks and
saw four seals at Nefyn. The house was warm and cozy, even though cold
outside; loved coming back to it. The mountains looked amazing as they were
topped with snow. Saw a lot of interesting birds and looked them up in the
bird book provided. I defiantly want to come again. Thank you!
Amazing picturesque scenery and lovely long walks where we saw seals and
dolphin and went to a lovely little pub which was right on the beach. The
house is wonderful and cozy. Enjoyed the fabulous views from the house.
Would love to come back and enjoy the fresh air and the views again!
Fantastic setting with spectacular views- a little piece of heaven. Great
facilities with a lovely homely feel. Wish we could stay much much longer.
An ideal venue for chilling out with friends and family. Thank you so so
much.
Had a great weekend. Cottage is wonderful and so restful. We’ll be back for
more.
Had a great weekend. Very impressed with the cottage and enjoyed the walks
and the local scenery. Very breathtaking!
Kitchen equipped with every kind of gadget available – great for having good
meals in and sitting around the big table. Nice cottage with all the home
comforts.
Great house for family re-union. Loads of space to do your own thing. This
is the second visit; hope there’ll be a third! Weather didn’t stop us
walking.
Fantastic cottage – everything has been considered with a fantastic range of
in-house activities for the children. Fantastic part of the world. We are
looking forward to returning to the Lleyn peninsular and “Awelon” again and
exploring further. A great weekend!!
Enjoyed staying in your lovely cottage, kitchen equipment fantastic, and
panoramic views magnificent. I feel really rested and ready for my
operation. Thank you.
We couldn’t wait to come back here, and we have had another fantastic week
in this lovely cottage. Wish we could take the view home with us!!
Weather brilliant, didn’t feel the need to move from the house! Views
captivating, can we take it away?! Very well provided for in the house.
Every need catered for. Pity the café was closed for the week. Recommend
Manana in Abersoch.
It was another brilliant time .The weather was beautiful for the whole week.
The best beach is Porth Iago – it’s lovely.
A beautiful location to be in touch with nature and the fab weather. Not
always sunny by all means but equally enjoyable. An antidote to town life.
We have enjoyed our week here, exploring and relaxing in a wonderfully
comfortable cottage. I wish I could have brought my cats, I am sure they
would have loved!! J -especially the sheep.
Enjoyed the sun and following the 2 walks in the walks books, both lovely.
Walks on Lleyn part 1 walk 9 from the house-great views and scenery. First
trip to whistling sands along the coast path too.
We had read the blurb, but words cannot do any justice to this place.
Experience is everything – the cottage, the views, the peace – so rare in
our lives. And above all, you can hear the silence (RAF permitting!)
Everything has been done to make a visit immediately relaxing and
comfortable. Within half a day one forgets that the M25 even exists! Our
sincere and grateful thanks to all concerned. The beach at Llanbedrog is
worth a visit on a nice day with good snacks at the café. Sea food
restaurant at Uwchmynydd is an absolute must – excellent in all respects.
Lovely cottage, wonderful and dramatic views, very peaceful and quiet. Best
beach Whistling Sands (National Trust). Thoroughly enjoyed the break!
Absolutely Fab! So peaceful. The cottage is really comfortable and has
excellent facilities and a well equipped kitchen. It’s a place one falls
totally in love with – and the kettle is hilarious!
So good we came back 2 weeks later!
More like home than home! Superb cottage-so much thought has gone into
equipping it. Fantastic views – you really unwind here, whatever the
weather.
Don’t want to go back to Warrington!!! We’ve formed the “Stanley
Appreciation Society”! We love Stanley!
Love the new fire in the living room – lovely and cozy on a cold winter’s
night.
Good few days, weather excellent. Cottage just as expected, first class –
lovely and warm. Just like home.
4 days of joy! This is the life. Leisurely walks in cool, dry conditions, no
crowds, friendly locals and back to the warmth and relaxing atmosphere (plus
the chance to tackle good food with appetites) of this lovely place. Many
Many thanks!
In windy weather this place is awesome! Yet again a superb holiday –
peaceful, relaxing and breathtaking. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Another fantastic week, rain and snow at the beginning of the week and
glorious sunshine by the end. Whatever the weather, this cottage is “heaven
on earth”. We walked, relaxed and recharged our tense “city batteries”! We
will have memories forever of being the only people on the beach in Porth
Ysgo all day! [the beach behind the house – ed] Thank you, we will be back
very soon.
Porth Ysgo – HEAVEN ON EARTH! You always travel in expectation that it will
be as good as you remember – only to be delighted that the memory is good,
but being there is even better.
What a great Easter! Our baby’s first experience of playing in the sand at
10 months, and how she loved it! We have had so many great times here with
our baby – she crawled for the first time in Awelon’s living room! Rhiw will
always be a special place for us – what a romantic part of the world – who
needs Tenerife, Skegness or Marbella ! (never in a million years!) Rhiw is
best!
Very relaxing time in wonderful house which feels like home. Saw lots of
wildlife in the front garden, beautiful views from the house. Went for 2
lovely walks; to Nefyn and went swimming in the emerald green sea, the other
walk was to Porth Ysgo peninsular which is a short but beautiful walk.
Finally we went body-boarding at Porth Neigwl [Hell’s Mouth Bay] in amazing
waves. Got back to warm house with tea cooking on the Aga and fire burning
away. Definitely coming back – Thank You!
Had an amazing time –got lots of fresh air, lots of exercise. Amazing
wildlife. In morning a pheasant comes up to the living room and taps on it.
Lots and lots of wildlife books and binocs help. Going surfing is amazing.
This is my best best best placed in the world. Love to come here more often.
Thank you fore a lovely time.
The trip to Awelon has been long awaited and it met with more than I could
have dreamed never mind expected. The house is tastefully and lovingly
decorated to create and ambience of peacefulness and calm – a haven away
from the rush of everyday life. The Log fire in the sitting room and the
breathtaking views, the visiting wildlife in the garden and the
yellowhammer, the penguin, and the peacock all help to create an amazing
experience. Treasured memories. A visit we hope to repeat before too long.
We have had a lovely holiday here, with the beautiful views and we have had
the most wonderful weather, sun every day! The scenery is very similar to
the Isle of Man where we live. The boys (age 17 – 9) enjoyed Porth Oer
(Whistling Sands), a trip to Greenwood Park (brilliant) and a day at the
mines – also Glasfryn Park. We have had some lovely walks around the
cottage. The cottage is the best equipped we have ever stayed in – well done
to the owners!
It’s been a very relaxing week with good weather most days. Our 2 little
children loved the garden (and the toys) and the “Fireman Sam” video. We
found lots of good short walks and outings in the area, as well as visits to
the various beaches. Found “The Ship” in Aberdaron good for food and very
child friendly. We found working the TV rather tricky! [Aren’t they all?!
Ed]
Fantastic cottage with great sea views. Me and Dan liked body-boarding.
Found TV tricky at first but easy now. Thank you for letting us stay –
cannot wait to come again. Lots of Love William.
As fantastic as we remembered from our last visit. Enjoyed all the
facilities including the new features. The views all the more spectacular
with the aid of the very hot and sunny weather. Good company with local
knowledge made a thoroughly enjoyable holiday Looking forward to testing out
all the seasons here – especially the new fire on a winter’s evening.
Beautiful house, wonderful scenery, views incredible. Wildlife has included
many species – even a stoat! We have had a fantastic holiday – peaceful,
funny, good fellowship; we feel so refreshed. We recommend the church at
Botwnnog, the millhouse at Sarn and climbing up the rocks at the back of the
house! Thank you for the opportunity of staying here.
Last year we came to Plas yn Rhiw [National Trust Manor house just down the
hill from the house, Ed] for our first holiday on the Llyn peninsula. We
loved the area and are back! The views from this cottage and the space and
home comforts have made it a wonderful place to stay. We have revisited many
places that we discovered last year including favourites like Porth Neigwl,
porth , Porth Ysgo and Garn Fadryn. The boat trip to Bardsey was a great day
out. In exploring new areas we enjoyed Porth Ceiriad for the surf and Mynnyd
Mawr for the views. Many Thanks.
Really enjoyable holiday. Lovely cottage with really nic features and
facilities. Wonderful walks of great interest and two local beaches we MUST
mention are Porth Ysgo and Oer –which has a café too! Both lovely and
spectacular. A most enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
Third time at “Awelon”! We can’t get enough! Such Amazing views and another
week for relaxing. We will defo be returning next summer
Our first time here and have found it to be very relaxing. The cottage is
wonderful with spectacular views!! We loved Aberdaron village and the
hillside walks.We’ll be back!!
We have all had a wonderful time and it has been fantastic. Thank you so
much.
The family have been coming to the Llyn peninsula for 45 years and we didn’t
know Rhiw existed. We have had a fantastic week and fell in love with Awelon
as soon as we came through the door. The boys found everything in the
cottage to entertain themselves – Monopoly being their favourite. Choosing
the beach of the day was fairly easy – Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) came out
top as it has the right kind of sand for building. “Awelon” is the best
equipped cottage we have ever stayed in, and we will be recommending it and
coming back again.
WHAT A GREAT HOLIDAY! Apart from the sore thumb from digging holes, I really
enjoyed myself. I think the top 3 beaches would be 1) Whistling Sands 2)Porth
Ysgo (We had lots of fun digging channels for the water to flow down)
3) Hell’s Mouth (great for cricket) We also went on a walk/scramble. If you
want a nice walk to go down the lane to the gate, and follow the arrow and
it brings you to a nice café. If you want to scramble, don’t follow the
arrows.
Our third visit. Still fantastic. Relax as soon as you arrive. On the
beach most days despite mixed weather. All week body-boarding for the first
time and loved it – will bear the bruises for some time! Can’t wait to
return at half term.
Wonderful accommodation, fantastic views, hope we can repeat the experience.
Two days of glorious isolation, with just nature and views for company.
Wonderful accommodation that caters for all ages, the children loved their
creature comforts including the range of videos. Walked to Porth Ysgo, then
went back next day with torches to explore the manganese mines!!!
Yet again another glorious weekend staying at the best house in Rhiw. See
you again very soon.
Another wonderful holiday in our “second home”. Lots of fun, laughter,
relaxing, good food, good wine, and a little body-boarding and walking. Hope
it sets us up for winter. We will return.
Discovered the meat from the butchers in Abersoch was delicious…. Lovely
week – enjoying the first of the winter chill. A special week for us in a
special place…Thank you so much.
Fantastic weather all week. Lots of walks on the beaches. Love the new
bathroom and other improvements. The new carpet survived our visit. We will
be back.
